Many electric fireplace models have ready-made mantel enclosures made specifically for them, providing an accessible design and construction solution. Installation of electric fireplaces generally consists of removing the fireplace from the box and plugging into a wall socket, as most units operate with relatively low amperage.
Most units also have a heating component of 1000 to 1500 watts, operating on a control which is separate from the "fire” function. Pricing for quality electric fireplaces starts at $800.
